The visa confirms an alien's passport or other recognized travel document stating that the owner has applied for entry to Malaysia and that the permit has been granted.

Foreign nationals who require an entry visa to enter Malaysia must apply in advance and obtain a visa from any Malaysian representation abroad before entering that country.

After passing a security check at Klia2's departure room, passengers will be fined for immigration documents for proper document approval.

Proper checking of documents is also done at the KLIA International Airport Immigration Calculations (KLIA) before passengers depart for the boarding gate.

Types of VISA:

The Government of Malaysia grants foreign nationals the following types of visas:

1. Single entry visa

The single entry visa is issued to those foreign nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia, mainly for a social visit. A single entry visa is usually valid for three (3) months from the date of one entry and issue.

2. Multiple entry visa

A multi-year entry visa is issued to those foreign nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia, mainly on business or government-government matters. Multiple entry visas are usually valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of issue.

Citizens of India and the People's Republic of China who wish to enter Malaysia for the purpose of a social visit have the right to apply for a multiple Malaysia entry visa. The validity of a multiple entry visa is one (1) year. Each entry is for a period of only 30 days, and an extension is not allowed.

The multiple entry visa requirements are as follows:

  1. The applicant must show sufficient funds to stay in Malaysia

  2. The applicant must have a valid and confirmed return ticket

  3. Tourism groups will not be eligible to apply for multiple visas.

  4. Multiple entry visa for Indian citizens costs 100 RM, and for Chinese citizens RM30.00.

3. Transit visa

A transit visa is issued to foreign nationals who require a visa to move to other countries to enter Malaysia.

Foreign nationals who are in transit without leaving the airport area and who continue their journey to the next destination on the same flight do not require a transit visa.

4. Visa-free transit (TWOV)

Visa-free transit (TWOV) applies only after you have immigrated from Malaysia, stopping for up to 120 hours in Malaysia. However, visa-free travel (TWOV) is the sole discretion of Malaysian immigration; even if the guest (s) meet all the required standards.
